Something I love about pet portraits is the way their owners talk about "the eyes" in the drawing. I try to capture the life and personality in the eyes, whether the pet is here still, or over the rainbow. Animals have a way of expressing themselves honestly and being there for their people in a way that humans often lack. As a kid, I always wanted to be a veterinarian. I had the opportunity to work for a clinic in high school, and after I graduated college I lived on a farm with cows, llamas, goats, chickens, and ducks. I believe my close relationship with animals helps me to draw the life in their eyes.
